IN-HOUSE SPECIALIST COURSE

Sands Leadership Development Centre is organizing an in-house certification for Sarimbun Scout Camp’s Rock Wall and Intermediate Rope Course (IRC) elements, and it gives us great pleasure to extend a special invitation to you.

Rock Wall and IRC are just two of the many challenge elements in Sarimbun Scout Camp. Intermediate and High Challenge Elements can only be conducted by ACCT or OBS certified Instructors that we term as Specialists. With this course’s certification, you will be capable of taking up the role of a In-House Specialist. However, do note that this certification is site-specific as the training only covers systems used at Sarimbun Scout Camp. Thus, this in-house certification is not applicable outside of Sarimbun Scout Camp. It does however, provide a much better understanding of challenge systems and can considered as a step-up towards obtaining the industry’s ACCT and OBS courses.

This course is designed to be a two-day-one-night programme focusing on the two challenge elements, ensuring the understanding of the flow and execution of the elements, the recovery of distressed participants, setting up the elements and many more – course content as shown in Annex A. Throughout this course, participants will be assessed on their capabilities and skills on conducting the two challenge elements. Participants who successfully complete this course will be certified to conduct the two elements.

This certification expires annually. In order to have a re-certification, SLDC In-House Specialists will need to clock in 35 hours (inclusive of the initial 8 hours in attendance of this course) for each element before expiry.
